Meet Your Recovery Bestie

Welcome! My name is Natalie Lockwood: founder and certified eating disorder recovery coach of Sisu & Soul Recovery. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and certified eating disorder recovery coach training from Dr. Dorie McCubery's Eating Disorder Intuitive Therapy program. I am based in Southern Illinois, but see clients virtually all over the world. I'm so glad you are here and look forward to connecting with you!

What is Recovery Coaching?

Recovery coaching offers individualized, real-time support that complements  professional treatment with a licensed therapist or dietician. Coaching can provide connection, accountability, and the support for the moments you need it most.

Present-Moment Focused

As your coach, I meet you exactly where you are in recovery and together we will collaborate to set clear, achievable next steps that align with your team’s goals and your current needs.

Real-Time Accountability

Along with our weekly sessions, I provide unlimited text support to help you

stay on-track. We also use this as safe space for moments you need to reach out. Text support is flexible, convenient, and effective for reinforcing all your hard-work and talking to someone who gets it. (I've been where you are!)

Action-Oriented

Practical tools, daily check-ins, and lived-experience insights that help you translate conscious reflection into consistency and action. Through coaching, we can set goals that work best for you, and build habits that will sustain lasting recovery.

Supportive Connection

As someone who is personally recovered - I get it. I promise to always provide you a space where you are welcome to be you're realest self. Whether in sharing meals or working on coping skills, having a coach on your side can help transform vulnerable times into opportunities for learning, practice, and expression.

Who Do You Work With?

Natalie works with women 18 and older virtually all over the globe.

These are just some common types of eating disorders I see in clients, but I also work with anyone who falls into an undiagnosed group needing coaching for intuitive eating, negative body-image, etc.

My Values

Come As You Are

You don't have to "ready enough", "sick enough", or "put together enough" to pursue recovery - you just need the will to be willing to change your life. And I am with you for every step of your recovery journey.

Full Recovery is Possible

Your recovery journey will be unique to you, and that's why I take on a personalized approach to everyone I work with. No matter where you are coming from, I promise you that full recovery is possible for you - you just have to be willing to give yourself your own best chance.

Carolyn Costin defines full recovery as:

"When the person can accept his or her natural body size and shape and no longer a self-destructive relationship with food or exercise. You will not compromise your health or betray your soul to look a certain way, wear a certain size, or reach a certain number on the scale. When you are recovered, you do not use eating disorder behaviors to deal with, distract from, or cope with other problems."

Holistic Healing in Evidence Informed Practices

I believe recovery is a mind, body, heart, and soul experience. In coaching, I draw from a variety of practices within behavioral psychology, mindfulness, intuitive eating, and neuroscience (as well as shared, recovery experience when applicable.) As a Christian, I also offer coaching from a faith-based lens upon request.

Compassion & Non-Judgement

Not only is this how I approach my clients, but I also work to give them tools that will help foster and rebuild a sense of self-compassion for their whole self. My goal is to empower you and help you rebuild your true, inner self - from consistency, curiosity over judgement, and self-compassion.

Action-Mindset Meets Latent Power (Sisu & Soul)

Dr. Emilia Elisabet Lahti describes sisu as what emerges when your action-mindset (will, courage, intention) taps into this deep well of hidden strength and truth (latent power - aka what we discover as apart of our healthy self). As a coach, I believe both aspects are apart of a long-term, full recovery - serving us in the present moment, and beyond.
